Lentils with Spaetzle

There is the 'El Clásico' in soccer, lentils and Spaetzle are the Swabian equivalent to it.

Lentils with Spaetzle are a popular everyday dish that used to be served up on Fridays and during Lent as a vegetarian main course.

The lentils have to be cooked and then thrown into an aromatic, dark sauce before being served with Spaetzle. Traditionally, a local and cooked sausage, the "Saitenwuerstle", completes the dish.
